Joe Nathan slammed the door on Superior as the SoCal Wildfires bested the
Superior Blues 5 to 3 at SAFECO Field.
SoCal scored 4 runs in the decisive 6th inning when they had 3 base hits. The
critical plate appearance was by A.J. Ellis who deflated the spirits of the
home town crowd when he blasted a Grand Slam homerun. SoCal had a total of 9
hits for the game.
Kyle Kendrick(1-0) got the win allowing 3 runs in 6 innings. Nathan was
credited with his 1st save. Matt Cain(0-1) suffered the loss.
'I was a little good, a little bad and a little ugly.' said Kendrick, 'I was
just giving us a chance to win.'
