Vernon Wells slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the dominant Simi Valley
Vikings bested the Superior Blues 6 to 4 at SAFECO Field.
Simi Valley had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs
on 2 base hits. Troy Tulowitzki started the inning off right when he drew a
walk. Robinson Cano followed next and he drew a walk. Tyler Colvin then
delivered a base-hit to load the bases. Alfonso Soriano dug into the batters
box next, but he struck out. One out later, Brett Gardner stepped in and he
delivered a one-base hit. Adrian Beltre followed, but he was set down on
strikes. Both teams finished the game with 8 hits.
Fernando Salas(1-0) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Chris
Tillman(1-1) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 5 runs and 6 hits in 8
innings.
