Superior Acquires King Felix.

Just minutes ago the Superior Blues acquired Felix Hernandez in a blockbuster trade.  The Blues sent Anibal Sanchez and Cory Luebke along with their #1 pick and $2.75M.

Owner Mike Swanson is absolutely ecstatic to have added the King to an already good starting rotatioon.

Superior's 2012 rotation looks like this:

Superior needs a second baseman now to fill out their lineup.

Superior Adds Pineda to the Rotation

The Blues added a real nice young pitcher to their already strong Rotation.

Superior picked up Michael Pineda (WHIP 1.10).  He will fit nicely with Tommy Hanson, Vazquez and Arroyo, not to mention Anibal Sanchez.

Vernon Wells slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the dominant Simi Valley
Vikings bested the Superior Blues 6 to 4 at SAFECO Field.
 
Simi Valley had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs
on 2 base hits.  Troy Tulowitzki started the inning off right when he drew a
walk.  Robinson Cano followed next and he drew a walk.  Tyler Colvin then
delivered a base-hit to load the bases.  Alfonso Soriano dug into the batters
box next, but he struck out.  One out later, Brett Gardner stepped in and he
delivered a one-base hit.  Adrian Beltre followed, but he was set down on
strikes.  Both teams finished the game with 8 hits.  
 
Fernando Salas(1-0) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Chris
Tillman(1-1) was the losing pitcher.  He allowed 5 runs and 6 hits in 8
innings.

In a game at SAFECO Field the Simi Valley Vikings scored 6 runs in the 6th
inning and got by the Superior Blues by the score of 6 to 3.
 
Simi Valley scored all of the necessary runs in the 6th inning as they scored
6 runs on 5 base hits.  The critical plate appearance was by Lyle Overbay who
helped quiet the crowd when he launched a rocket-shot out of the park for a
Grand Slam homerun.  For the game Simi Valley out-hit Superior 11 to 6.
 
Yovani Gallardo(13-6) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 8 innings.
Mike McClendon gained credit for his 1st save.  Javier Vazquez(2-10) took the
loss.  He surrendered 3 runs and 5 hits in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Adam Lind smashed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Chris Tillman allowed 2 hits

Lind had a big day at the plate.  He bombed a two-run dinger in the 3rd inning
and smashed a two-run homer in the 7th inning.  Superior banged out 16 hits
on the afternoon.  
 
Tillman(1-0) was credited with the shutout. Jeremy Guthrie(11-13) was charged
with the loss.  He allowed Superior 8 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings of work.
 
'We didn't have a whole lot of chances today,' Jim Liesenfelt said. 'Tillman
just was too much for our guys.'

Jeff Clement had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Superior Blues pulled out a win
over the Hessville Everreadys by a score of 5 to 4 at SAFECO Field.
 
Superior won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning.  Adam
Kennedy doubled, and an error was also committed.  Jose Tabata got his turn
next, but he was a strikeout victim.  Clement then stroked a one-base hit
resulting in an exciting win for Superior and a raucous post-game celebration
by the home town fans.  Superior had 10 hits overall, while Hessville had 7.
 
Aaron Laffey(2-0) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Joe
Smith(0-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.  He surrendered 1 run and 2 hits

Carlos Silva pitched 7 strong innings and Willie Bloomquist had 2 base hits as
the Hessville Everreadys beat the Superior Blues by a score of 5 to
2.
 
Hessville tallied 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning.  Orlando Hudson opened
up the inning nicely when he doubled.  After an out was recorded, Seth Smith
came up and he reached on an error.  One out later, Gaby Sanchez came to the
plate and launched a three-run homer.  Chris Young was up next and he drew a
walk.  Delmon Young came up to bat and drew a walk.  Both teams ended up with
6 hits on the night.  
 
The win was credited to Silva(6-4) who went 7 innings allowing 2 runs. Silva
got relief help from Takashi Saito who gained credit for his 3rd save.
Javier Vazquez(2-9) absorbed the loss.  He was a hard-luck loser as he did
not allow an earned run in his 4 and 2/3 innings of work.

Jamie Moyer had an impressive outing at SAFECO Field as the Superior Blues
beat the Hessville Everreadys 3 to 0.
 
In the 4th inning Superior scored 2 runs when they had 3 base hits.  They
would be enough to earn the win.  Moyer(5-4) was helped out by Andrew Bailey
who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 17th save.  
 
Clayton Richard(12-13) was the loser.  He pitched 6 innings and surrendered 5
hits and 1 walk. Superior remained hot, improving their record to 76-69.
They now have a record of 8-2 in recent days.  With the loss, the Hessville
ballclub's record is 68-73.

Mark Buehrle delivered 7 and two third solid innings at SAFECO Field as the
Tinley Redbirds beat the Superior Blues 3 to 1.
 
Tinley scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 8th inning with 2 runs
using 2 hits.  Nick Punto led off the inning for Tinley when he laced a
one-base hit.  Brendan Ryan was next and he lashed a single.  After an out
was recorded, Dustin Nippert came to bat and was wild with a pitch.  Pat
Burrell came up and he hit a sacrifice fly.  Eric Young Jr stepped into the
box and drew a walk.  Young Jr took his lead and swiped second.  Tinley
continued their aggressive style with another stolen base.  Tinley managed
only 6 hits on the night.  
 
Buehrle(6-16) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 7 and 2/3 innings.
Francisco Rodriguez was credited with his 1st save.  Bronson Arroyo(11-9)
ended up with the loss.  He gave up only 5 hits and no walks in 7 innings.

Cliff Pennington had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Superior Blues ballclub
embarrassed the league door-mat Tinley Redbirds by the count of 14 to 0.
 
The Superior fans enjoyed the offense provided by Pennington.  He stroked a
one-base hit scoring two baserunners in the 1st inning, doubled in the 2nd
inning, slapped a single in the 4th inning and tripled in the 5th inning.
Superior ended up with 18 hits for the game while Tinley had 3.  
 
The victory was credited to Javier Vazquez(2-8) who went 6 innings, allowing
no runs. Cory Luebke got the save, his 1st.  Justin Masterson(6-8) absorbed
the loss.  He allowed 5 hits and 1 walk in 2/3 of an inning.

The Superior Blues plated 5 runs in the 1st inning and readily handled
Florence River Bats by a score of 6 to 2 at SAFECO Field.
 
The game started off with Superior taking the lead in the first when they came
up with 5 runs on 5 hits.  That early scoring held up.  Overall Superior
out-hit Florence 10 to 7.  
 
Javier Vazquez(1-5) allowed 2 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Dustin Nippert earned his 2nd save.  Gio Gonzalez(8-8) was the
loser.

Clint Barmes had 2 base hits at SAFECO Field where the Florence River Bats
beat the Superior Blues 3 to 1.
 
Florence did all of it's offensive work in the 7th inning scoring 3 runs on 5
base hits.  Martin Prado led off and got things going when he delivered a
base-hit.  Joaquin Arias stepped into the batter's box and he ripped a
single.  Austin Kearns then doubled.  Reggie Willits was up next and he
worked the squeeze play to perfection.  Barmes came up to bat and slapped a
single.  One out later, Starlin Castro came to bat and doubled.  Bruce Chen
was perfect in relief and got the save, his 4th.  
 
Fausto Carmona(8-10) went 7 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Jamie
Moyer(2-3) was the losing pitcher.  He surrendered 5 hits and 3 walks in 6
innings.

Mat Latos delivered 6 solid innings at SAFECO Field as the Florence River Bats
beat the Superior Blues 4 to 1.

Latos(7-9) was solid in the win.  He was stingy on the mound, allowing just no
hits and 1 walk in 6 innings.  Overall Florence out-hit Superior 7 to 3.

Latos got help from Derek Holland who was credited with his 3rd save. Anibal
Sanchez(7-9) was the losing pitcher.  'It felt really nice to get this win,'
Latos said. 'I kind of dictated the game. It's what I get paid to do. It
worked out this time.'
