Derek Lowe was on top of his game, blanking Superior on just 3 hits as the
Myrtle Beach Mermen topped the Superior Blues by a score of 5 to 0 at SAFECO
Field.
Lowe(2-3) was tremendous on the mound for Myrtle Beach. He surrendered only 3
hits and 2 walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 2.70 to 2.08. Myrtle
Beach rapped out 11 hits for the night.
Felix Hernandez(0-5) took the loss. He got hammered, allowing 9 hits and 3
walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Mark Doerr was very impressed with his pitcher,
Lowe, 'He had unusually good pitch placement tonight. It was almost unfair -
but a beautiful game to watch from where I sat'
