Josh Johnson whiffed 11 batters and Chipper Jones slammed a homerun and had 3
RBI at SAFECO Field where the Cook County Maulers beat the Superior Blues 8
to 0.
Johnson(1-0) was simply too much for the Superior batters. He didn't allow
much, just 4 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. Cook County banged out 8 hits on
the night.
Tommy Hanson(8-4) was tagged with the loss. Johnson was humble when
questioned about his performance, 'Well, I felt pretty confident in my
pitches tonight. But, I had great support behind me and I just threw what
was called. That was an extremely well called game!'
