Javier Vazquez pitched 7 and two third strong innings as the Superior Blues
outscored the Lancaster Shermans 4 to 2.
 
Superior started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first scoring one runner.  After an out was recorded, Adam Jones reached
on an error.  Justin Upton stepped up to the plate and he doubled.  One out
later, Evan Longoria came to bat and drew a walk.  Edgar Renteria was the
next batter, but he struck out.  Vazquez(7-3) was helped out by Rafael
Betancourt who pitched a perfect ninth and recorded his 12th save.  
 
Daniel Hudson(8-8) was given the loss.  Mike Swanson was just happy to get a
win, 'We've had such a bad streak of games -- boy, it's great to get the
monkey off our back.  Now maybe we can relax a little and play the kind of
baseball of which we are capable.'
